Unique pieces hand woven in Danish Cord.

Katy Bennett

Home Of The Good Chair is founded by Katy Bennett.

The ethos of the business is sustainability, functionality and beauty.

By reviving second hand chairs using traditional weaving techniques I aim to create value in products that already exist. Showing people that these designs can be loved once more and the cycle of their life can be extended for many generations to come.

What is Danish Cord?

Danish paper cord is typically seen on the seats and backs of Danish, Scandinavian and Mid Century Modern furniture designs. It became very popular after World War II in Denmark and other European countries and is still to this day a very popular material used to make the seats on chairs due to the ease of production, availability and durability.

Paper cord is a 3-ply paper product which is twisted together giving it its strength. When used for seating it is estimated to last up to 60 years with normal use.

Paper cord is both durable and comfortable to sit on. It is waxed to help prevent stains.
